What We Know

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph lineup just got a quiet but meaningful refresh. Meet the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph in Rose Gold with Sandstone dial, the latest expression of Parmigiani's relaxed-meets-refined approach to sporty luxury.

This newest release marks a new direction for the model, particularly in terms of the date complication, long a staple of the PF Chronograph lineage. Better put, it doesn't have a date complication, opting for a cleaner dial design. It's a visual decluttering that comes with context: since its debut in 2021, the Tonda PF Chronograph (both Sport and not) was always date-equipped. That same year marked the broader birth of the Tonda PF line itself. It wasn't until 2023 that we saw the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph, arriving in steel and rose gold, still with a date. But 2024 saw things change.

In 2024, Parmigiani released the downsized, 40mm in diameter, Tonda PF Chronograph (non-Sport) with no date. Then, in 2025, the Sport family caught up. The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet broke ground as the first date-free variant in the Sport sub-line. And now, this new rose gold Sandstone model brings that same no-date refinement to the more classically styled, precious-metal entries in the PF Sport collection.

The case remains 42mm wide and 12.9mm thick, crafted in polished and satin-finished 18k rose gold with Parmigiani's signature knurled bezel. The Clou Triangulaire guilloché dial returns, this time in a silver base with Sandstone subdials that supposedly call to warm coastal light. The textured rubber strap in a matching Tufo tone is designed to mimic Cordura fabric – visually soft, but technically rugged – and ties the whole aesthetic together.

The dial guilloché is executed by hand on a traditional machine, as is the bezel knurling. Inside beats the high-frequency PF070 caliber, ticking at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz) with a 65-hour power reserve and COSC chronometer certification. The movement boasts impressive technical features, including double barrels, a column wheel, fully integrated vertical clutch-equipped chronograph components, and a free-sprung balance—all packed into a 7mm thickness and finished with a skeletonized 22k rose gold rotor. Even the strap is premium, featuring padding and stitching like leather rather than simple injection molding.

What We Think

Since the Tonda collection refresh in 2021, Parmigiani has slowly but surely reinvented itself as a modern watchmaker. With Michel Parmigiani still heavily involved and CEO Guido Terreni at the helm, the brand has won over enthusiasts, both new and old, with a range of complications and truly high-end details. The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph is just that, a watch for the detail-obsessed.

On the surface, today's release is a new dial and strap combination for an already great model. However, the removal of the date is a design decision that alters the entire tone of the watch and possibly future releases. The 4:30 date was the one critique consistently levied at the previous Tonda PF Sport Chronographs. Critique no more.

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph

Yes, it's still 42mm, and no, this isn't the same playbook as the scaled-down PF Chronograph of last year. But this is the PF Sport, it's meant to be worn a touch larger. That said, after experiencing the watch in person, I am happy to report that it is comfortable on my vintage-preferring wrist.

The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Rose Gold Sandstone isn't groundbreaking, yet it's an exceedingly well-executed luxury sport chronograph made incrementally better. The watch is beyond compelling to the right customer and, considering the price, in line with Parmigiani's premium pricing strategy as of late.
