IntroducingGlashütte Original Seventies ‘X’ Chronograph (Live Pics)

A first-ever limited edition exclusive to the North American market.

What We Know

One of the things that Glashütte Original has become known for is keeping the post-war era of Glashütte, Germany's design, alive. This time, they've taken the brand's 1970s-style square chronograph (with integrated bracelet) and rendered it in a panda-style design with a few red accents, released as a 100-piece limited edition exclusive to the North American market.

Cased in what vintage lovers know as a steel "TV-case" 40mm by 40mm design, measuring 14.1mm thick with a sporty 100m of water resistance, the new Seventies 'X' Chronograph features a "panda" white lacquer dial design with black subdials and red accents. The indices are white gold and black PVD-coated. The automatic Calibre 37-02 movement features a 70-hour power reserve, with hours, minutes, running seconds, and power reserve indicated at 9 o'clock, along with the brand's signature Panorama Date and a column wheel flyback chronograph.

The new Glashütte Original Seventies 'X' Chronograph is limited to 100 pieces and available only in North America. The price is $17,900.

What We Think
GO Chronograph

These styles of TV-cased watches are a lot of fun and a great way to stand out with your collection. Whether it's a Glashütte-based design or things like the Movado El Primero (yes, you read that right) TV-cased chronographs, it's a fun way to zig your collection while others zag. Past versions of the Seventies Chronograph have been a bit "heavy" and intense, visually at least, because of single-color dials that, while they had great color matching, were a bit more bold. This is much sportier while still being more versatile than the other turquoise and pink limited editions from the brand.
