Hello, and greetings from the heart of HODINKEE to the horologically curious, who write in to Hey, HODINKEE asking watch questions of every kind – that we do our level best to answer.
This week's trilogy of queries runs the gamut from granular to general. A reader writes in to ask about Grand Seiko typefaces (a slightly loaded question; not everyone thinks a luxury Japanese brand should be using a Gothic typeface), while another asks what the heck, just really, what the heck a so-called "sports watch" is. (Hey, HODINKEE's Jack Forster is reminded of Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart's remark in 1964 that he couldn't define pornography, but, "I know it when I see it," which leads to probably unanswerable questions about the media consumption habits of Supreme Court justices).

And, finally, a reader asks a question near and dear to the heart of anyone who collects vintage watches, or indeed who just wishes to have options: How do you find a reliable independent watchmaker?
We hope, as always, that you enjoy the show! If you'd like to see your questions featured in an upcoming episode, email us at [email protected].
