The moment I watched Succession season 4, episode 9, the episode titled "Church and State," I was pretty sure that Kieran Culkin had pretty much locked up the award season. I won't spoil anything, but it was an incredibly strong performance for an actor with a lot of breadth. Well, after the Golden Globes and Primetime Emmys, it looks like critics agree. Culkin went home last with a Primetime Emmy for "Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series." On his wrist was a bold and eye-catching watch.

The IWC Portugieser Automatic 40 (ref. IW358310 for those reference number lovers) was a surprising choice, in my mind. It is quite a big and eye-catching watch for a black tuxedo, let alone someone who isn't quite as tall as well... me, I guess? But it looked pretty elegant on Culkin. Really, what was most interesting, in my mind, was the choice of a green dial.
I'm used to the blue dial or white dial being the go-to choice for the model for most people. Last year's salmon dial release actually looks pretty great, going back to our coverage, and I might have to see if I can look at one in person. The brand has a very loud red version for the Chinese New Year as well. The green model, however, might be a sleeper hit. The green highlights the beautiful finish of the dial while standing out from the crowd of dark dials you're used to seeing with a tux. I'm curious if Culkin picked it himself – it does seem like the kind of watch that could be in his own collection instead of placed on his wrist by a stylist. I hope that's the case. If I won an Emmy, I'd want to keep the watch I wore during that moment forever.
