This weekend marks the unofficial start of summer in the United States. And while many of us will enjoy backyard barbecues, a three-day weekend, and time with family and friends, for many, observance of Memorial Day goes deeper. It's when we remember those who paid the ultimate price while serving their country. What happens in war, even to those who survive, can sometimes be difficult to express in words.
Today we're bringing back some of the most poignant storytelling that HODINKEE has ever done – the "Long Return: Parts I and II." While "The Long Return" is ostensibly about the return and restoration of a Tudor Submariner misshapen by a bullet in the Vietnam War, it also tells a story of human reconnection and healing.
