The Tudor Black Bay 58 has been a runaway hit since its debut in 2018. A new watch, yet one that's firmly planted in Tudor's history books, the BB58 has developed an identity all its own. The vintage proportions and carefully considered design choices reverently call back to the mid-century scuba diving boom, but not at the expense of a form factor capable of standing up against its modern counterparts.

Amongst the usual suspects of case materials for a dive watch (steel, gold, bronze), our dear BB58 is also available in silver. Today, though, The Spec Sheet is taking a swing at the steel version. Originally offered in black, the Black Bay 58 eventually came along with a Blue specification, completing the reference to the Marine Nationale of old, both black and blue.
A case measuring 39mm x 11.9mm thick rounds out the nods to the Tudor archive, while the in-house MT5402 movement and modern finishing flex Tudor's muscles as a contemporary manufacturer. And at the risk of playing even more inside baseball, Stephen Pulvirent knocked it out of the park when he described the Black Bay 58 as "an homage that doesn't have to feel like one if you don't want it to."
