Greetings one and all and welcome to another episode of Hey, HODINKEE, where you ask watch and watch-adjacent questions and, inspired by the tireless oscillations of Drinky Bird, we strive to answer to the very best of our ability.
Our questions today run the gamut from technical to ethical. On the technical side, one observant and curious viewer wants to know why you usually see a counterweight on a seconds hand, but not on the hour or minute hands. Another viewer wonders about switching languages on the day wheel of the venerable Rolex Day-Date – trivial challenge or technical nightmare? And, in a vexing poser to which there is no easy answer, someone writes in to ask, 'What should you do if you found a watch at a garage sale worth thousands, that was going for a song?'
And finally, a viewer asks – hopefully – if it would be okay to buy a watch for their partner, who doesn't like watches, that they, the giver, would like, in hopes of stealing it away. No prizes for guessing what we think.
We hope you enjoy the show! If you'd like to see your questions featured in an upcoming episode, email us at [email protected].
